| Welcome! |
Welcome to Hamilton College’s Computer Gaming
Club Website. Unofficially founded sometime in 2001,
the club had a small following of closet-computer gamers
somewhat akin to Fight Club. Fast forward to 2003, the
club finally drafted a working constitution. Recognized
by Hamilton College as the Computer Gaming Club, the
club seeks to foster copious video game playing throughout
the Hamilton College Community. By hosting tournaments,
events, and even room-to-room gaming over the college’s
LAN, the club promotes community building over an otherwise
solitary activity.
In addition, the Computer Gaming Club works with Hamilton’s
network services to ensure that online multiplayer gaming
is possible through the college’s allocated bandwidth.
Eventually, the club seeks to compete against other colleges
in team-based matches. |

If you haven't yet noticed, we've got a poll! Kudo's go to Mike Sprague over at Hamilton's web services department for creating the required DB entries and fixing some of the bugs with the ColdFusion poll software.
Anyway, now that we have a poll, we need to take advantage of it. Its really easy to update (and fairly easy to stuff the ballots in our favorite Florida voting style) so I recommend we have weekly to bi-monthly polls. They can range from which games we want to play nightly to deciding how we want to operate the club (OK, thats pushing it a bit). Anyway, enjoy it while it works ... vote in the current poll, and if you have ideas for future questions, either post it in the forums or bug Mike about it. ~your caffeine-addicted webmaster |

Hey all,
We've got big plans this year. Firstly, we're trying to set up one or two lan-type games a month in a public lab. Last year, we used KJ's computer lab, which rocked, but we're looking to expand our horizons into different areas on campus; and, with ITS's blessing, maybe, borrow portable machines and get more people into the room. Secondly, in the spring, we're holding an intercollegiate lan party in the annex-and we're going to make a weekend out of it (Friday night to Sunday). With some planning, I'm betting we can get some sponsorship and maybe some free swag to give away as prizes for the tournament. For now, we might have a gaming night soon- maybe revive some Halo, Counterstrike, Enemy Territory, or something we can all jump into and frag the hell out of each other.
Anyways, while you're here, be sure to check out the forums and post what games you play so you can find people on-campus to play with or against. Peace out.

Over twenty students showed up
to participate in our first computer gaming tournament
this past November. Prizes were given out to the best
players in Quake III, Unreal Tournament 2003, and Halo.
Unfortunately, due to technical difficulties with the
ITS lab machines in KJ220, we were unable to play Starcraft.
To all those that turned out, thanks for making the evening
great!
